PLANT CITY -- A third teenager has died of injuries from a head on crash early Saturday morning near Plant City.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 14-year-old Edgar Ortiz of Plant City died Sunday at Tampa General Hospital, where he was airlifted following the collision at U.S. 92 and Turkey Creek Road.
The driver, 17-year-old Camilo Mustacchio of Dover, and the other passenger, 15-year-old Lexi Lapointe of Seffner, died at the scene. None of the teens were wearing seat belts.
FHP says their 2008 Ford Escape crossed the center line for reasons unknown, and entered the path of an eastbound Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
The truck's driver was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He won't face any charges.
