TAMPA -- Police say they've arrested 41 people for looting and vandalism taking place on East Busch Boulevard neaar 30th Street.
As of 11 p.m. there was still a large crowd presence, along with many officers, according to Tampa Police. Persons were throwing rocks, bottles and fireworks at cops. No officers and no nonviolent protesters are reported to be injured.
TPD sats individuals were arrested for looting businesses including a CVS drug store and two cellphone stores. A fire was set and quickly put out at a Mobil station.
The next morning, the police chief said 40 businesses were attacked along with more than two dozen police cars. A Tampa officer suffered minor injuries to her arm when a firework was thrown at her.
Hillsborough sheriff Chad Chronister says seven people were arrested overnight in violent unrest related to Floyd protests. Charges include burglary, grand theft, petit theft, battery on a law enforcement officer and carrying a concealed firearm. Two deputies sufered minor injuries and 15 sheriff's vehicles were damaged.
Earlier in the day, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor (a former police chief) marched in a nonviolent protest of the Floyd slaying.
