Florida Veterans Being Urged To Use Virtual Care

Officials at a Florida VA Medical Center have a message for veterans as we deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

"We just want people to stay at home if they can. We want to make sure we keep people healthy and keep them Covid-negative."

Kenita Tills, Public Affairs Officer at the West Palm Beach VA, wants to remind Florida's veterans about virtual care that's available through My HealtheVet and the VA Video Connect app.

"If they have an iPhone, you're going to have to download the Video Connect app."

You can do that from the app store. There is no app for Android users, who can go to mobile.va.gov and see their healthcare providers virtually.

She says it's also a great option for veterans to be seen virtually for other ailments.

Tills says veterans must be enrolled in VA healthcare to use the services.

Veterans who are concerned about having the coronavirus are asked not to just go to the VA Medical Center. Also, she says the phone is a better option in this case than the app.

"We recommend that you actually call and reach out to your care team. You can just call the main number at your local VA hospital and actually get assessed over the phone."
