Virgin Trains USA Holds Public Meeting In Jupiter To Discuss Future Plans

A community meeting to discuss the second phase of construction on Brightline's service from West Palm Beach to Orlando is being held Monday.

Representatives from Virgin Trains U.S.A. will be on hand to give details including the timing of construction, modifications to tracks and intersections and potential locations of new stations.

The public is invited to the event in Jupiter and some residents are expected to voice their concerns about an area in town where the trains will roll through. Safety is among those concerns.

The goal is to have service to Orlando International Airport online by 2022 and there could be more stops in Fort Pierce and Stuart added by then.

The Miami-Dade County Commission voted last week to approve a new station in Aventura, in the northern section of the county. The current Miami-Dade station is near Downtown Miami.

There are also discussions about one or two Treasure Coast train stations and the tracks may eventually run from Orlando to Tampa.

The meeting is being held at the Jupiter Community Center Auditorium from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
