Palm Beach County Approves CRA To Help Make Lake Worth Road Safer

The Palm Beach County Commission has approved the establishment of a special tax district for the Village of Palm Springs.

The Community Redevelopment Area will provide funding for safety projects for a stretch of Lake Worth Road between Congress Avenue and Military Trail.

The CRA allows village leaders to redirect property tax dollars that would ordinarily go to the county and keep them locally for projects like safety improvements.

Police Chief Tom Ceccarelli told us that there have been 24 fatalities along Lake Worth Road in the past six years.

The village manager says the expected $28 million over 30 years will improve crosswalks, signage and redevelopment.
