Gov. DeSantis At Palm Beach County School To Sign "Best & Brightest" Bill

Ron DeSantis

The governor was in Palm Beach County Wednesday, signing a bill into law that changes the way the Best and Brightest program works.

It gives $300 million in teacher bonuses, which is around $70 million over last year, and it removes the ACT and SAT requirement for educators to be eligible for the incentive.

"We're trying to focus more on evaluating teachers for what they're doing in the classroom, not for a test that they may have taken many years ago."

Ron DeSantis was at Lake Park Elementary School.

He also recognized a Suncoast High School teacher, Dr. Mary Joe Murray. She's the newest inductee into the National Teachers Hall of Fame.

DeSantis was joined by Sen. Gayle Harrell, Rep. MaryLynn Magar, Rep. Rick Roth and Rep. James Bush.
