Palm Beach & Orlando Area Congressmen To Introduce Bipartisan Bill Monday

Vets Fight To Keep Hospital Opened

Two Florida Congressmen are announcing bi-partisan legislation to streamline the opening of Congressional offices at VA facilities.

Republican Brian Mast and Democrat Darren Soto have authored a bill aimed at making it easier for members of Congress to open field offices in Veterans Affairs hospitals.

Mast was the first member of the House to open an office when he did so at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach back in January 2018. Soto opened his office in the Orlando VA last August.

Their bill would require the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs to permit the use of the facilities by members of Congress for the purposes of meeting with constituents and resolving veteran-related issues.

The two lawmakers will introduce the "Improving Veterans Access to Congressional Services Act" to the media in Kissimmee on Monday.
