China has announced sanctions against three Republican Congressmen in retaliation for sanctions announced last week by the Trump administration.
Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Rep. Chris Smith, as well as Religious Freedom Ambassador Sam Brownback, were targeted for sanctions that are mostly symbolic, including a ban from visiting China.
Last week, the U.S. announced sanctions against Chinese officials over alleged human rights violations against the country's Uighur population.
A Chinese official said the U.S. "has no right to interfere" in its internal affairs.
