Yasmany Rodríguez solo lleva 2 años aquí en Tampa y habitualmente visita una gasolinera 711 de la Avenida Hillsborough y la calle Web, pero jamás se imaginó que por no saber inglés sería víctima de discriminación. Según Yasmany el empleado del 711 cuya identidad desconocemos, le exigió a que hablara inglés para completar una transacción de compra, pero el joven no sabe el idioma. Acto seguido, el hombre se alteró presuntamente cuando una pareja hispana intentó defender al joven cubano y claramente actuó de forma negativa según muestra este video.
Yasmany Rodríguez, moved to Tampa from Cuba 2 years ago and has always visited the local 711 gas station located at Hillsborough Ave. and Webb, but he never imagined that he would become a victim of apparent discrimination. He tells Rumba 106.5 that he asked for 2 cigarette boxes but the clerk, who's ID we don't know, only gave him one. Yasmany says he was confused and with his hand gestured 2 but the clerk allegedly refused to further explain why he only gave him 1 box and asked him to speak in English but the young latino man could not understand. The victim, explains that a couple (who appears on the video) witnessed the event and spoke in English to the clerk asking why he was acting so negative towards Yasmany who didn't understand the language.
